FOCUS TOPIC ~ WEEK 6
Tuckman's 5 stage model: Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing, Adjourning.

Forming: We followed this stage almost down to the letter. There was a high dependence on and need for a leader.

Storming: Emotional issues weren't such a problem, perhaps just establishing everyone's role and seeing where everyone fitted in.

Norming: This is probably the stage our group is at now. The tasks have been delegated and it is getting more settled.

This means we still have Performing and Adjourning to go!

FOCUS QUESTIONS ~ WEEK 5


At this stage in the project, what is your team role?

My team role has shifted to questioner as all members of our team have 'inner peacemakers' =)which was my role.

Depending upon team roles, it may appear that some team members are currently working
more than others – how do you feel about this?

I know it's unfair but that's the way team work is.

Reflect on your own role – can you be more effective?
I can try and take a bit more time to understand the project and others ideas.

Are your team strengths being adequately utilised by the team?
If not, what can you do about this?

FOCUS QUESTIONS ~ WEEK 4

What are the current issues facing you – as team member?

The current issues facing me now is how to get this next module done!
Firstly we have to decide whether to delegate the work or do it all together... Personally, I think we should do it all together, but that is in an ideal world. People have very different schedules. It's not like we all work in the same building everyday. I think delegation is going to be the perhaps not best, but easiest way.


How is the team working together? Are people following the agreements?
Some members of the team are working well, others i am struggling with as I know something is wrong I just don't know how to fix it. Some agreements are being followed, but mostly not.


How do you feel about the team process now – review some of your earlier comments – has anything changed?

My role has shifted to that of a questioner.

FOCUS QUESTIONS ~ WEEK 3 Reflect on the team process – have your original thoughts changed at all?
My original thoughts haven't changed so much as that i have found it may be alot harder than I thought for these profiles to all work together.

Do you perceive any challenges or difficulties that weren’t identified in the team profiles?
One aspect which could possibly pose a difficulty would be an extreme weakness in not enough reflection and group think. Possibly because Amy, our 'go-getter' wasn't present we didn't seem to be progressing forward as rapidly as I personally would have liked.

How do you feel now about future team assignments?

I am looking forward to them more as a learning experience rather than something I would do out of choice, especially when the members that you work with are chosen for you.

FOCUS QUESTIONS ~ WEEK TWO

What does your team role indicate about your contributions to the team?
My role within the team process is: Peacemaker. It indicates that rather than helping get the job done, I am one rather to help the job get done smoothly.

Why would you use this process (the online team profile questionnaire) with a team being brought together for a project?
It helps people identify their own strengths and weaknesses so that they can use them to their and the groups advantage, as well as ensure that the group has an even balance of each role.

How do you think your team will overcome its areas of weakeness?
We will be flexible within our roles and not be confined to the descriptions we have been given, if there are weaknesses in some areas, a member who is most likely to have the characteristics will focus on those.
We will all try and play a small role of being the networker, questioner and verifier as we have neither of these characters in our group.

FOCUS QUESTIONS ~ WEEK ONE

Having read the Subject Outline, what are your expectations for this subject?
I am expecting this subject to bring together all that we have learnt in the previous e-learning subjects to show us what we will ultimately be using these skills we have acquired for. I am expecting alot of group work and to learn alot about how I work in groups.

What do you think about working in a collaborative team for this subject?
I think because so much of our work will be undertaken in gorups once we are out in the workforce, that it is a great idea however much I cringe at the prospective conflicts and issues which may arise.

How do you anticipate the team process will work?
The team comunication process hopefully will run smoothly, however I believe there may be conflict not only between the various roles as they go through the process but also within each member as they try to adhere to the roles they are given.
